Syros is an island of the Cyclades. Due to its strategic location, its capital is also the capital of the South Aegean Region. Syros borders with several islands of the Cyclades complex. Andros Island lies to the north, Mykonos to the east, Kythnos to the west and Sifnos, Antiparos, Paros and Naxos to the south.
Beaches on the north side of the island are deserted and secluded as this side is mountainous and contains landscapes with rocks, bridges and caves. By renting a rib boat you will be able to swim in Grammata, Lia, Aetos and Barbarousa. The southern part of the island is flat; Ahladi, Vary and Doukissa beaches can be found there.
Many islets are located around Syros; Ambelos, Delfini, Kommeno, Schinonisi and Psathonisi are among them. Taking a trip with a rib boat you'll be able to experience the island from another point of view and enjoy its crystal clear waters combined with wild landscapes.
Before leaving the island do not hesitate to try the local products such as “loukoumia”, “chalvadopita”, pasta and cheese. You can try “San Mihali” cheese that is a spicy parmesan cheese. You can also try thyme honey, purée of fennel, sun dried tomatoes, caper and “kritamo”.
