Serifos is an island of the Aegean Sea. It is not a very developed island, it has few permanent residents and, from the ancient times, was described as barren. Serifos has rich subsoil; mining companies extracted hematite, magnetite and copper deposits up to year 1963.
By renting a rib boat you will be able to swim in blue waters and visit all the beaches of Serifos. Most of them are not organized and are still natural. You will go to Livadakia, Kalo Ampeli and Vagia which are in the south and in Psili Ammos and Agios Sostis in the east. For fishing enthusiasts, Serifos is an ideal place to visit as its sea bottom is rocky and full of life. Around the island you can find many bays and secluded beaches to explore. On your trip with the rib boat you should not miss to go to Serifopoula and Vous which are two small islands around Serifos.
A famous local food is the chickpea soup, which is made by chickpeas cooked in the oven with rosemary. You can enjoy excellent traditional tastes in all the taverns of the island. Some local dishes to taste are: Capers stew, louza, rabbit, sygklino with scrambled eggs and marathokeftedes with xinomyzithra.
